Alternate Endings Radical Beginnings

Curated by Erin Christovale and Vivian Crockett for Visual AIDS, the video program prioritizes Black narratives within the ongoing AIDS epidemic, commissioning seven new and innovative short videos from artists Mykki Blanco, Cheryl Dunye & Ellen Spiro, Reina Gossett, Thomas Allen Harris, Kia Labeija, Tiona Nekkia McClodden, and Brontez Purnell.

Over 100 partnering institutions across the world will also screen the program on/around December 1st! Visual AIDS utilizes art to fight AIDS by provoking dialogue, supporting HIV+ artists and preserving a legacy, because AIDS is not over.

This is a free film screening with doors opening at 7:00 pm. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with Allicia Chalifour from HEPCBC, Kemi Craig from Students of Colour Collective UVic, and ~birch an artist and community activist. Megan Quigley with be moderating. Open Space is grateful to the Vancouver Island Persons with AIDS Society and The Students of Colour Collective at University of Victoria for partnering on the presentation of this screening.
