Research Opportunity: A Qualitative Exploration of the Processes Foundational to Promoting Psychological Well-Being Amongst Older, Self-Identifying Gay Men

Project Title: A Qualitative Exploration of the Processes Foundational to Promoting Psychological Well-Being Amongst Older, Self-Identifying Gay Men

Are you a man who self-identifies as gay, aged 50 years or older?
Do you currently live on Vancouver Island/Gulf Islands, or Vancouver/Lower Mainland?

If so, we would be grateful for your participation in a research study.

The purpose of this study is to deepen understandings of how older, self-identifying gay men go about promoting their psychological well-being. In particular, we are interested in exploring how the unique contextual circumstances of discrimination, living through the cultural trauma of HIV/AIDS, the challenges of aging and the current pandemic influence practices and strategies for promoting well-being. Ultimately, findings will inform resource development to meaningfully support the overall well-being of older gay men.

This study has been approved by the Uvic Research Ethics Board and the UBC Research Ethics Board via the Provincial Research Ethics Platform as of July 28, 2022.
