VPWAS is registered with the government of BC as a non-profit agency under Business number S-31617, and with the Federal Government -our charitable tax # is 88907 1999 RP0001.

Our Society is entirely directed by and for people living with HIV. The Board Directors are elected from the membership of the Society at our AGM. Directors may also choose to join the Board throughout the year at General Meetings. All the Directors of the Vancouver Island Persons Living With AIDS Society are HIV positive. Meaning our Board of Directors is made up of 100% HIV positive people. Most of our volunteers are also HIV positive but those who are negative or who prefer not to disclose their status are welcome. 

We have a unique structure. We are the only AIDS organization on Vancouver Island directed entirely by and for individuals living with HIV.

The Board ensures there is appropriate management for the Society and that all Society business is performed in an effective, prudent and ethical manner.

We currently have one staff position.
