The Vancouver Island Persons Living with HIV/AIDS Society (VPWAS) would like to acknowledge and express appreciation for funding for two new programs. We have received funding from The Victoria Foundation to develop a program of complementary health care services for people living with HIV/HCV. The program will consist of a spectrum of on-site services, off-site services, and a community health fund. Please look for our needs assessment in early January to provide feedback on the development of this exciting new initiative.
“Healing our Bodies” in partnership with the Victoria Native Friendship Centre, is supported by a Positive Action Canada Indigenous HIV/AIDS Initiative community grant from ViiV Healthcare. This program, directed by Martin M., will provide three multi-day workshops focused on sexual health and STBBI prevention from an Indigenous perspective and incorporate traditional Indigenous cultural practice. Two of the workshops will be provided for Indigenous youth and the other will be open to the community. We will be announcing the dates of these workshops very soon. Thank you to our generous funders for their support of these exciting new programs!
